Leonard Young was a son of Leonard Victor Young and Louise Young, of Oldbury, Worcestershire.
He served with 2 Medium Machine Gun Platoon, Support Company. The authors of the book 'By Land, Sea and Air' (Alexander Junier and Bart Smulders) wrote about Young on page 188 (appendix 9) in the Roll of Honour: "Probably killed after evacuation 25/26 september 1944. Was last seen on 24 september.  
According to the Roll of Honour published by the Society of Friends of the Airborne Museum (Jan Hey 2011) Young died of wounds. 
In may 2015 the Dutch online newspaper Grebbekrant wrote an article about the annual Dutch commemoration of all that were killed in armed conflicts, on 5 may. They wrote Young probably already wounded when he fell in the river.
