Wilfred James Hall was a son of Albert and Alice Hall (nee Donovan), of Cwmbran, Monmouthshire. He was the youngest son and had 7 (step-)brothers. He had sisters as well. After school he worked for an engineering company. 
He joined the Territorial Army at the age of 17 and was called up at the outbreak of war. All his brothers, Jack Hall, George Hall, Tom Hall, Cyril Page, Reg Page, Stan Page and Harold Page, served in the Army. 
Hall landed in France only a couple of days after D-Day. He was killed at or near Luykgestel. 53rd Regiment was under command of 160 Infantry Brigade at that time. On 19 september 1944 the regiment reached Luyksgestel.
