Enchede is a large town in the Province of
Overijssel, in the north-eastern part of the Netherlands, close to the
German border. The cemetery is located in Noord Esmarkerrondweg opposite
Lipperkerkstraat, on the eastern side of the town. The entrance is
opposite a tyre replacement firm. The Second World War Commonwealth Plot
is in the north-western part of the cemetery. The First World War
Commonwealth Plot will be found by turning right past the building and
following the first gravel path to Plot 12.
Enschede Eastern General Cemetery contains 11 Commonwealth burials of
the First World War. Second World War burials number 50, about half of
them airmen, the rest members of the Commonwealth land forces, killed in
the final stages of the war in Holland. |
