William Joseph Patrick "Pat" Devlin was a son of William Patrick Devlin and Evelyn May Devlin, of Wallasey, Cheshire.
According to the Roll of Honour published by the Society of Friends of the Airborne Museum (Jan Hey 2011) Devlin served with the Intelligence Section. He was given a field burial in the garden of the Ter Horst family, Benedendorpsweg, Oosterbeek. In the Roll of Honour it is written Devlin was awarded the Military Medal. According to the website www.paradata.org.uk Devlin was called Pat because of the presence of another Private William Joseph Devlin, in the same Battalion, who was awarded the Military Medal (Servicenumber 2031426).
