Vernon Coaker was a son of Edwin and Doris Coaker, of Cheldon, Devon.
On 6 june 1944 he was killed when a German mortar bomb landed close to his postion at the post office of Le Plein. At that moment he apparantely was the Troop Sergeant Major. He was given a field burial in Amfreville. He was reburied in the Ranville War Cemetery on 20 june 1945.
