- Frederick Frank Allen was a son of F. and Florence Allen of Clapham
North, London. He served with the Royal Fusiliers before he made the
transfer to the Parachute Regiment, where he served with the Mortar Platoon, S Company. He died of
wounds. He was wounded by a mortar grenade while he was trying to find
his best friend John Ramsden, who also served
with the 11th Battalion and who was married to Allen's sister.
- Allen has no known grave. His name is on panel 8 of the Groesbeek Memorial, which commemorates by name more than 1000 soldiers who died during te campaign in north-west Europe between the time of crossing the Seine at the end of August 1944 and the end of the war in Europe, and whose graves are not
known.
